Expert care for Birth, Babies & Breastfeeding
After you’ve had your baby, it’s usually recommended to see your baby’s health care provider within 2-3 days of discharge from the hospital to make sure things are going well. Often, babies can need frequent checks after that to monitor jaundice, blood sugar, weight loss, feeding issues and more. It can be exhausting to have to go to so many appointments and clinic visits, especially if you are also recovering from birth!
As the parent giving birth, often told that we will have NO check ups for us until 6 weeks after birth!!
We provide a better option for care!
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced university education who provides personalized, quality health care to patients. Ontario Nurse Practitioners provide a full range of health care services to individuals, families and communities in a variety of settings including hospitals and clinics in Ontario. NPs work in partnership with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals such as social workers, midwives, mental health professionals and pharmacists to keep you, your family and your community well.
Like Doctors, Nurse practitioners can assess, diagnose, treat and monitor a wide range of health problems. Nurse Practitioners use an evidence based approach to their practice and engage patients as full partners in their care plan.
Whether you already have a Pediatrician or Primary Care Doctor for your baby, or you’re still looking, you can access care from our Nurse Practitioner instead!
With your permission, a summary report will be released to your provider about care provided to you and your child. You can continue to see your provider for ongoing care at any time you wish after your visit.
A physician (doctor) can bill the Ministry of Health directly with your Ontario Health Card. Currently in Ontario, there is no billing system that allows a Nurse Practitioner to directly bill the Ministry of Health for NP services, so these home visits remain a private service.
